June 2017 Golf Notes by Tom Burrington

Hope everyone is enjoying the spring and playing some golf. May brought us our first Fun Night of the season and a great time was had by all. If you don’t participate in golf outings because you are self-conscious about your game, this is the event you want to play in. Rib does a great job of mixing the various skill levels together and setting the course up in unique ways. June 22 is the next Fun Night with a shotgun start at 5:30pm and a potluck meal after play, so come down and have some fun in a zero pressure atmosphere. You can sign up in the pro shop.

We have a full calendar of events slated for June, highlighted by the George McLaughlin on June 17-18. Check out the calendar below and see if something fits with your schedule, you may be surprised by a good time.

Our other notable May event was the one day Spring Ryder Cup. Our two captains, Paul Blouin and Rib, did a great job putting this event together. Paul’s team came out on top 24-16. I wish I could say it was closer than the final score, but I can’t. May also saw another change in the make-up of our Golf Committee as Paul Dickinson decided to step away and Pam Fecteau stepped in. So please take a moment to thank each of them for volunteering their time for us all. Finally, we would like to thank everyone for their patience as Sean and his crew work hard at keeping up with the rapidly growing rough.

Golf on.

Ladies Golf Notes by Judy Ribolini

The Ladies League plays every Wednesday with a shot gun start at 5:15 p.m. We have 18 ladies signed up for league, however only 11-12 have shown up each week. We draw numbers each week to see who everyone plays with and then gather in the lounge after play for appetizers, if anyone remembers to bring them.

By the time this newsletter is sent, we will have completed our Ladies Golf Clinic on June 3rd. As of this writing, there were about 16 ladies signed up to participate with Pro Dustin Ribolini and former golf committee member Kevin Lunn as the presenters. Each participant will receive a gift certificate for 9 hole greens fees to use any time. Maybe it will help the Club build our membership!

June 10 will be our first Ladies Scramble with tee times from 3:00 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. If you would like to play, everyone is welcome and you can sign up in the Pro Shop or call to sign up at 223-7457 ext. 5.

Ladies State Day will be Tuesday, June 13th. This event has ladies coming from all over Vermont to play our course. It would be helpful if everyone prays for a sunny day given all the rain we have had in May!

The Ladies Member-Member/Member-Guest is scheduled for Saturday, July 22nd. Start thinking now of who you could invite to play as we would like to have a shotgun start and will need at least 7 or 8 foursomes in order to do so.

Pam Boyd, Pam Fecteau and Judy Ribolini all serve on the Golf Committee with Tom Burrington, Rob Miller, Floyd Dickinson and Scott Cameron. Please let us know if you have concerns in relation to the golf course as we meet every month.
