Noveber 2017 Golf Notes by Tom Burrington

What a great finish to the 2017 golf season. The Ryder Cup continues to one of our premier events. In a great weekend of golf and comradery, Floyd Dickinson’s Bear Naked Growler squad edged out Lynn Ribolini’s Pro Shop team. It was a back and forth slugfest whose results were not determined until the final group.

The following weekend we held our annual MECC Calcutta. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event another huge success. This is our most important fund raiser and you always come through. A special thank you to Judy Ribolini who always works extremely hard pulling this event together.

We then tried something a little outside the box (maybe way outside the box). We held a “heckler open”. After some early scrambling (due to a large number of Sunday sign ups), we got out and had a great nine holes of good natured ribbing. It was probably the most exhausting nine holes of golf any of us had ever played, but what a good time.

The golf committee wants to extend a few heartfelt thank you’s. Scott Cameron purchased and donated two loads of stay matte for our path repairs. Dick Comi is donating the sand for our ninth hole bunkers and Lynn Ribolini purchased the beams we are using as retainers on the island outside the pro shop. We also had 14 people show up for our work bee. Thank you all for being true friends of MECC.

I am also pleased to inform everyone that Lynn Ribolini will be returning for the 2018 golf season. We are fortunate to have Lynn working for us.

In November we will be establishing our 2018 rates and preparing our holiday specials, so please be on the lookout for those. Golf on.

Women's Golf Notes

The Ladies League held a meeting following the final night of league play and elected officers for the coming year. Patty Baroudi was elected President, Pam Boyd Secretary, Deb Lefebvre will continue as Treasurer. A new committee was formed for the Ladies Golf Association to plan for the next season. Many thanks go to Judy Ribolini and Pam Fecteau for their dedication running the Ladies League--Pam Fecteau has served for the past few years and Judy has run the league for many years.
